Fieldston Pond frozen...
This poor duck, I have to mention here, Had no girlfriend for the past two years… When the weather was brutally cold, He was protecting This shrinking waterhole From freezing… All alone….
When I was a teenage hunter, I saw a mallard that I realized had become frozen in thin ice about a half-mile out into a lake. Your photographs made me think of that time. I did not want to comment about this, but decided to so you would know I was not ignoring you.

Natalie Wood and I were born in the same Don River region in the Southern Russia, at a different time though!

It is always sad to see an animal dying at the hands of Nature or a man...
