Fascinating photographs, Natalie. Thank you, for posting them.

I recall passing by Homer one summer afternoon. He was sitting outside the Parthenon, composing the "Iliad." I distinctly recall him asking me to read a few pages and to give him my opinion. I told him I thought people would be reading the story for at least the next 2,500 years.

Sure he did!! I am too tired now to confirm your facts, but I think you are off by, at least, 250 years!!! (Homer, I think, was long gone when the construction of the Parthenon started)
P.S. It doesn’t matter where he sat… I am sure he asked many people’s opinions…. Blind people love to talk…

Oh, Natalie. It was such a long time ago. You expect me to remember every little detail?

All I recall for sure is that it was around the time my girlfriend dragged me along with her over to Italy. She had been assigned to watch over the two brats, Romulus and Remus, and could not bear to go without me.

…..and I remember myself saying “Bongiorno, Signore Alighieri…”
Since that time I am obsessed with Florence….

Oh, well, good ol' Homer? He definitely was the first blockbuster writer, wasn't he :-)? Many thanks for the post, photos and comments.

Greetings from London.
