"As I Walked Out One Evening"

...The years shall run like rabbits,
For in my arms I hold
The Flower of the Ages,
And the first love of the world."
But all the clocks in the city
Began to whirr and chime:
"O let not Time deceive you,
You cannot conquer Time....
"O plunge your hands in water,
Plunge them in up to the wrist;
Stare, stare in the basin
And wonder what you've missed...

W.H. Auden(1937)

"And wonder what you've missed ...."

There are times when I wonder if, when I turned right, I should have turned left instead, or when I looked at a blonde, I should have looked at the redhead next to her instead.

Right now, I am more interested in which branch of the river I will follow next. My mood has swung and, while I still treasure the ability of the past to teach me and to guide me, I am looking forward to the future once again.

One of my credos is this: Happiness is momentary.

I am approaching such a moment, therefore, time stands still.

Your post inspired me, Natalie.

Sorry for my late response, Fram.
I never asked myself which way to turn, never regretted decisions I made – I guess, it is a good thing!!
The purpose of my post is to remember of everything good and precious we have been blessed with and treasure every moment that is left….

We find our inspiration in most unexpected places, I am happy I helped you to find yours, no matter how brief…
